Enganq's droplets and the use of the same
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The invention relates to a device for use as a dropper under a drain tap on a liquid container, preferably a disposable cardboard / liquid container made of a relatively rigid material and mainly used for e.g. wine, beer or other liquids, which at one end has a layer of highly absorbent material at one end of the upper side.
From EP patent application 1945558 A1 (Beierholm's' 'Easy Drop' ') a dropper is already known for use in connection with' 'Bag In a Box' cardboard cartons for wine, beer juice etc. This dropper is a plastic device which is provided at one end with a hard flat tapered portion to be pressed into the very bottom of the cardboard box under the drain tap until one stop is formed on the device, another part of the device is designed as a flexible arm which, at proper placement, will be immediately below the drain tap on the cardboard box , on the upper side of this arm is an absorbent layer for the purpose of capturing any droplets from the drain tap.
This dropper has the disadvantage that, when properly installed, the cardboard carton cannot stand directly on a table as the correctly applied dropper protrudes below the bottom level of the carton, but the total unit has to stand with the dropper beyond a table edge or must be placed on a elevation on the substrate.
In addition, from US Patent Application No. 5470011 (A) and US Patent No. 6279781 (B1), examples of drip catches designed as small trays / containers hung on the taps of the taps are known, which containers also need to be located with the taps apart. a table edge or on an elevation with the dropper free.
These known droplet catchers are all intended to trap any droplets from the drain cans of liquid containers, thereby preventing drips on tablecloths, countertops, floors, furniture, etc. where especially some liquids such as e.g. red wine, can do irreparable damage.
However, they also have all disadvantages. Eg. It may be mentioned that for all of the above droplets, there is an imminent danger of the device (droplet) being torn from the container with the known constructions, with the risk of a greater liquid spill if the container were to be pushed, which can easily occur when the liquid level in the containers decreases.
In addition, from US patent applications US 5960995 (A) and CA 2260352 (A), devices for catching drops from tapping valves on liquid containers are known, for example. is placed on a table with these devices hanging on the table edge under the potentially dripping drain tap and held in place by the weight of the container which is on a portion of the device.
These devices have the same purpose as the former, and in principle also the same disadvantages, but to a lesser extent as long as there is plenty of liquid in the containers or in the case of heavy containers.
However, all of the above devices which are considered to be part of the prior art in this field also have the common disadvantage that they are intended to be reused after preparation, ie. that a great deal of cleaning work and replacement of various absorbent inserts in the devices is included when the liquid containers need to be changed.
It is therefore an object of the invention to provide a dropper with the same advantages as those mentioned above, but without the disadvantages mentioned above.
The object of the invention is met by a device of the type set forth in the preamble of claim 1, characterized in that this droplet trap, in a preferred embodiment, is formed as an elongated rectangular flat device which is coated with a remaining part of the upper side. adhesive which is covered in an unused condition with a layer of easily removable protective material, the dropper is made of a material which, at least at the transition between the absorbent material and the adhesive coated area, is very flexible, the underside of the advantageously, part of the dropper provided with adhesive may be provided with measures which produce a non-slip surface. In this way, it becomes possible to provide a dropper that can be easily adhered to a disposable cardboard / liquid container with the absorbent portion under the container's drain tap where it will remain no matter how much is pushed to the overall unit as the dropper is flat on the underside when the absorbent portion is not bent down for liquid drainage. In addition, the non-slip bottom of the dropper according to the invention makes it more unlikely that the entire unit is accidentally displaced.
Claim 2 is characterized in that the easily removable protective material is continued beyond the end of the dropper facing away from the absorbent material, thereby obtaining the advantage that it is easy to remove the protective material from the adhesive layer on the top of the dropper. thereby ensuring quick and trouble-free preparation of a liquid container with dropper.
As stated in claim 4, characterized in that all material used is environmentally friendly and biodegradable, the advantage is obtained that this drip trap will not unnecessarily impact the environment, even if it is a use and throw away device.
Claims 5 and 6 disclose uses of the dropper according to the invention
The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the drawings, in which:
FIG. 1 is a sketch of a portion of a table on which stands a liquid container with a drain tap as well as a portion of a dropper catch shown below this tap;
FIG. 2 shows an enlarged section focusing on the drain tap and the upper side of the dropper;
FIG. 3 is a bottom view of the liquid container with adhesive dropper according to the invention,
FIG. 4 shows the use of the dropper, where it is seen that the part with the absorbent layer is bent down when a glass is inserted under the drain tap,
FIG. 5. shows the dropper according to the invention from above still with the protective material in place,
FIG. 6 shows the same view from one side with slightly raised protective material,
FIG. 7 shows the same bottom view still with protective material in place while,
FIG. 8 shows the same view from above with lifted protective material
Figure 1 shows a part of a countertop (3) on which is seen a liquid container (1) of the '' Bag in a Box 'type which is in principle a six-sided cardboard box or cardboard box, within which there is a liquid-tight bag of affixed to the drain tap (2), the bag may contain e.g. wine, beer, juice or other liquid. These containers are widely used as they fill less and are easier and safer to transport and use than the previously used glass bottles. Before draining, the drain tap (2) adhered to the bag must be pulled out of the cardboard / cardboard container and attached to it. In FIG. 2 shows an enlarged section of the same arrangement, here focusing on the drain tap (2) and the dropper catch (Figs. 5-8) seen directly under the drain tap (2) and protruding between the underside of the container (1) and the upper side of the support surface (3 ) in which the part of the dropper (Figs. 5-8) coated with the highly absorbent material (4) faces upwardly against the drain tap (2), it is also seen from the figure 2 that this absorbent (4) part of the upper surface of the dropper ( Figures 5-8), when properly mounted, will always be directly under the drain tap (2).
Character. 3 shows the liquid container (1) seen from the underside with the dropper (Figs. 5-8) properly adhered to the absorbent (4) part of the surface under the drain tap (2).
Draining the contents of the container (1) to glass (10), cup or the like. similar is illustrated in FIG. 4, from which it appears that the part of the dropper (Figs. 5-8) protruding below the drain tap (2), due to the flexible material at least used in the area (6), bends willingly when for example, a glass (10) under the tap (2) so that liquid can be freely drained from the drain tap (2) to the glass (10) or any other container.
Figures 5 to 8 show the drip catcher (Figs. 5-8) from all sides, thereby clearly showing that the drip catcher (Figs. 5-8) is, in a preferred embodiment, a very flat elongated structure, with a very clearly divided top side having a smaller, highly absorbent (4) region at one end as well as a larger region at the other end coated with an adhesive (8), which parts are separated by a slightly bendable region (6). Adhesive (8) will be covered with a protective material (7) until just before use. due to the excess part projecting beyond the edge of the upper surface of the dropper (Figs. 5-8), easily grasp and pull off to expose the adhesive-coated portion of the upper surface, leaving it ready to adhere to the underside of the container (1).
FIG. 7 shows the underside of the dropper which may advantageously be designed as a non-slip substrate for the container (1), thereby providing additional assurance that the container will not be accidentally displaced during drainage, with the consequent risk of further liquid spillage.
The above description of the dropper (Figs. 5-8) of the present invention has been made in light of a preferred embodiment, which is not to be construed as implying that the invention cannot have other configurations.
